Interview

I enjoy the best when I see "growth and change" in areas beyond work.

Manager, Machida Shoten Tokyo Ramen Yokocho
Yuto Iizuka
Q1

Why did you choose Gift as your place of employment, Mr. Iizuka?

I enjoy the best when I see "growth and change" in areas beyond work.

I was interested in the ramen industry when I came across Gift during my job search, because I was attracted by their commitment to making customers happy in the short amount of time they have to enjoy a bowl of ramen (only 15 minutes or so).

In addition, Gift has a clear commitment (philosophy) to making customers shiawase. Every company has its own management philosophy, but when I witnessed that not only employees but also part-time workers (cast members) know it as a matter of course, and that it is firmly instilled in each and every one of them, I felt the strength of commitment that no other company has and decided to join Gift.

Q2

When do you enjoy your work? When do you think "I'm having fun!

Keeping Things On Track and Structured."

I am happy to see the cast members grow and develop. Of course, it is a joy to see them learn to do things they could not do before, but it is also great to see their willingness to grow, such as when they say, "I would like to try this position! I am most happy when I see growth and changes that go beyond work, such as when a passive cast member starts to greet customers on his own initiative.

Q3

Please tell us about the hardest part of your job....

Keeping Things On Track and Structured."

Now that I am a store manager, I find it very difficult and challenging to structure things.
I think about how to improve the store myself, and we also think together through monthly store meetings.

As we find good methods through trial and error, we believe it is important to "keep things going" and "systematize" them.

We will keep the ideas that we all came up with, such as check sheets and information sharing, as a good culture. It is difficult to think of a better system for this and to make it take root, but it is interesting! I feel that it is interesting.

Q4

What do you think has grown since you joined the company? What do you think has grown since you joined the company?

That it is not only the manager who makes the store, but everyone who works there.

It is the ability to think for customers and others.
When I first joined the company, I was working with a self-centered desire to grow, to just learn the job and get promoted to store manager right away. I think that is not a bad thing, but after joining Gift and working under the philosophy and many store managers, I realized once again that it is not only the store manager who makes the store, but also everyone who works in that store.

What should I do with everyone to deliver sheer happiness to customers? I always kept thinking by paying close attention to customers and colleagues working around me, which ultimately led to my own growth the most.
